Margaret Owens

A native of Northern California, Margaret started her performing career (outside of the family living room) at the First Presbyterian Church in the cherub choir.

By the time she was a teen she had started writing songs and was lured away by musical theater. She spent time in New York studying acting and many years in Hollywood trying to become a rock star. She acquired a recording contract and placed many songs in movies and commercial jingles. With the birth of her son, Margaret decided to give up the grind and moved with her family to Las Vegas where she performed in an extended run of a major MGM production of EFX Alive starring Grammy Award-winning Rick Springfield.

During that time she also wrote and produced two full-length country CD's, one of which features a duet with Rick in a beautiful wedding song.

Then as fate would have it, when she was looking for that something more we often seek, her friend and former classmate from the Musicians Institute, Jami Lula (a vocal guru in the New Thought movement) suggested she seek out The First Church of Religious Science in Las Vegas.

It proved to be the home her soul was looking for and she was so greatly inspired by the Reverend Doug Foglesong, that she began writing what would become the body of her first spiritual mind CD. The pairing was so transformative that Rev. Doug brought back the Wednesday night service he'd let go of a year before with Margaret was the Music Minister. It was a powerful year of change and Doug would often proclaim he wanted the world to hear this music. The congregation helped raise most of the funds to record the CD and very quickly "Getttin' Comfortable in my Skin" was released. It includes 12 original song inspired by Rev. Doug and the church family.

Margaret now resides back in Southern California and is touring churches singing these songs (taking it to the world!) She still returns to sing in Las Vegas the first Sunday of each month and can be found often on Wednesday nights at the North Hollywood Church of Religious Science.

"Getting Comfortable in My Skin" is a powerful grounding tool. It's a down-to-earth, realistic approach to the daily struggles and joyful victories in the lives of those awakened to their spiritual journey. Its contemporary pop overtones make it accessible to the adult contemporary listener (think Amy Grant meets Sarah McLaughlin ... think wearing it out in your cars CD player).
